Liam’s First Gift to Baylor

Liam received a lot of great gifts for his birthday.  The bounty included baseball gloves, books, outfits, football jerseys, Sesame Street dolls, train sets, electronics, a rocking horse, musical instruments, gigantic stuffed animals, cash and everything else a child could want.

And then there was this:

The soon-to-be Uncle Phil bought Liam a brick at Baylor’s new stadium and it is perfect.

Rachel and I have a million reasons to love Baylor.  It is where we met our friends, it is where we got our degrees and it is where we fell in love.  Now Liam has his own connection to the school and with any luck he’ll be excited to find his brick every time we go to a game.

Celebrating Life

After I vetoed Rachel’s ideas requiring that I dress up like Elmo or establish a petting zoo in the front yard, Liam ended up entertaining his guests with a ball pit, toys, fancy sippy cups, various desserts, Chick-fil-a nuggets, goody bags, decorations via Etsy, and booze.  Lots of booze.

Rather than posting pictures of adults drinking around children, here are some pictures of the pre-party ambiance:
And here are pictures of Liam enjoying cake at various points throughout the weekend:
Cake the night of his actual birthday
Cake before the birthday party
Cake during the birthday party.
It was a wonderful event and we cannot thank everyone enough for attending -whether in person or in spirit. Your love and support has made the first year of Liam's life an unmitigated success.

The Big One

At the end of every month Rachel and I have strapped Liam into a white onesie, taken a few pictures, Photoshoped on the appropriate number and posted it to this blog under the label, "baby by month." This picture is the final installment.  This is his last white onesie.

Click here and see the consolidated view of his transformation from an immobile infant into a large, running, wildly destructive toddler.

Liam's First Haircut

Today my wife sent me three images via text celebrating the fact she had cut Liam's hair.
The first message featured  a bag of trimmings.

The second highlighted the classic lesbian stylings of my fourth grade gym teacher.

And the third paid homage to a youthful John McCain.
With any luck Liam's future haircuts will be performed by a licensed professional bold enough to trim around the ears.
